So, you think you know what technical debt is? You might not! This video with Doc Norton and DZone’s John Esposito explains what technical debt really is and how you and your team should be thinking about it.

Over time many Product Managers have started to adopt an incorrect definition of what technical debt is, and believe that technical debt is a concept (or excuse) that allows them to build something with some rapidly hacked together code now, to rebuild it properly in the future. As it turns out, technical debt is probably not what you think it is, and I believe it is important for PMs to understand the true meaning and purpose of technical debt.

This video by John Esposito, Editor-in-Chief of DZone, who sat down with Doc Norton at Agile2016 and talked a bit about technical debt, explains it perfectly. Watch the video to see what it really is and how you and your team should be approaching it.
